As a former L10n engineer, I appreciate all the work that has gone into RTL support. As a person with an econ background, I wonder how much economic loss (and innovation hindrance) nations employing RTL have been incurring, for the sake of preserving this peculiar writing direction.

For perspective, the cost of the world not speaking the same language is on the order of US$100 billion a year.
